Anderlecht
RSC Anderlecht have played in the Belgian First division - also known as the Jupiler Pro League – since they were founded in 1908. Since that day, the club from Brussels has developed into one of the biggest and well-known clubs in the country.
The Purple & Whites, their nickname due to the club colours, has a superb record of achievement through the years, with: 31 national titles - the most recent being last season - 9 Belgian Cups and 10 Belgian Supercups. On the European scene, the club gained their best results in the late 70’s and early 80’s, taking the European Cup Winners’ Cup twice and the UEFA Cup, now known as the Europa League.
Since June 2011, the A-squad and several youth teams (U15 - U21) have moved to the brand new RSCA Training Centre in Neerpede. The Training Centre was built to give the club’s youngsters the best possible training and continued support. The current A-team features several players who have come from the youth academy, including: Fernando Canesin Matos, Dennis Praet and Jordan Lukaku. Players such as Vincent Kompany (Manchester City), Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea), Maarten Martens (AZ) and Dries Mertens (PSV) have broken onto the international scene since comming through the academy.
Anderlecht also has agreements with different schools to help its youngsters combine studies and football. Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku was one of the first players who combined the two successfully through this system. This year Praet and Roef - both A-squad players - followed in his footsteps.
