In almost 60 years of history PFC CSKA Sports school has made a huge contribution to both its first team and the international team.
It is believed that the school was founded in 1954, and 16 years later training groups were reorganised into Youth Sports schools. From 1976 young Army Club players were pupils of the Specialised Youth School of Olympic Reserve, which in 2001 became a part of the club and was renamed Youth Sports School.
The training and upbringing of the youth and reserve teams is provided by ex-CSKA professionals. This has kept continuity through the generations at the club. Distinguished coaches of the Russian Federation – Nikolay Kozlov, Vladimir Ponomarev and Evgeny Nikolaev currently train the team, with Masters of Sports - Boris Kopeikin and Dezideriy Kovach, Distinguished Master of Sports Valentin Bubukin, and many other famous coaches.
Each year talented graduates leave the school to join and strengthen PFC CSKA’s first team. Many stars started their careers at the Army Club YSS, such as Mikhail Eremin, Mikhail Kolesnikov, Mikhail Solovyev, Alexander Grishin, Aleksey Guschin, Andrey Movsesyan, Andrey Novosadov, as well as the key-players of the current team Igor Akinfeev and Georgy Schennikov.
