Manchester City
Since its inception in 1998, thirty-eight graduates of the City Academy have gone on to make first-team appearances. Stars such as Shaun Wright-Phillips and Micah Richards have since played for England on numerous occasions.
Recent years have seen the club widen their search for young talent, now boasting a more cosmopolitan squad; players from Spain, France, Norway, Holland and England will represent the club in The NextGen Series.
The aims of the Academy are not restricted to sporting excellence alone. All youngsters are enrolled in an education programme, as the players strive to achieve academic success alongside their training.
Despite being in one of the toughest groups in the tournament – Juventus, Paris St Germain and Fenerbahce - City are serious contenders in The NextGen Series.
