The Lerkendal stadium will host Rosenborg’s first NextGen game of the season on Wednesday 17th October, against Borussia Dortmund.
This is Borussia’s debut season in the tournament, and they have been thrown in the deep end after being drawn in a group featuring Internazionale, Liverpool and Rosenborg. Inter currently hold the title, while Liverpool came third last season and Rosenborg beat opponents such as: Ajax, Aston Villa and Fenerbahcè.
Dortmund however already look a threat in the group and were unfortunate to lose their first game to Inter 1-0 in Milan. Producers of talents such as Mario Götze and Marco Reus, both currently in the German national team, Dortmund are renowned for their academy and have won the
Bundesliga eight times; this competitive side are always dangerous.
Rosenborg hold a great record at home, scoring eight goals there in just three games last season including four past Fenerbahcè. With their home fans cheering them on the Norwegian outfit seem likely to score and Dortmund’s defence will have to put in a solid performance.
A win could put either side into second position, ahead of Liverpool by 3 points, for the group table click here. Dortmund then face Liverpool on the 31st October whilst Rosenborg host Inter the same evening.
